What it involves, and why.
Everything above the axles is comfort. The axles, bearings and brakes are what keep twelve thousand pounds under control on the grade down from Cedar Breaks. Bearings run dry, brake magnets wear, and wiring that was twisted together with a wire nut somewhere along the way corrodes until the brakes quit on one side.
The axle set in the gallery came in for new spindle bearings and brakes on a 3.5k axle. The old connection points were cleaned up and rewired properly while it was apart, because the right repair is not just replacing parts. It is cleaning things first, taking the time, measuring the components and checking for the little things.
That goes for the hitch end too: breakaway switches, seven-pin plugs, trailer lights and brake controllers, down to a thread locker being cleaned off before new goes on.
